FAQs
What is veterinary sonography?
Veterinary sonography (also known as veterinary ultrasound) is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to create real-time, dynamic images of an animal’s internal organs, tissues, and structures.
A specialized form of veterinary sonography is echocardiography (often called an "echo"), which focuses specifically on the heart. It allows veterinarians to evaluate cardiac anatomy (chambers, valves, and walls), assess heart function (contractility and blood flow), and detect abnormalities such as valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, congenital defects, or pericardial effusion. Using Doppler capabilities, echocardiography also measures the direction and velocity of blood flow, making it an essential tool for diagnosing and managing heart conditions in dogs, cats, and other companion animals.
Does my animal need sedation/anesthesia?
Qalibra CT uses the world’s best and fastest CT systems to take scans quickly and efficiently, reducing the need for general anesthesia but that isn’t always what is best. Every pet and situation is different, our team will carefully evaluate your companion and collaborate with you to ensure the safest, most appropriate imaging experience. Safety and quality will determine the sedation/anesthetic needs.
What is CT/ Ultrasound used for?
Diagnostic imaging can be used to diagnose a wide variety of cases. For large animals, including equine, this includes lameness, head/sinus issues, THO, ear problems, and navicular. For small animal and exotics, this includes head to toe full body imaging exams for abnormalities (disease or trauma) of each system with virtually no limits.
